Over the weekend we put up and decorated our family Christmas tree and I’m so happy so happy with how it turned out🎄. It’s hands down my favorite thing in our house (maybe even more so than the kids 🤫😅).

This year we went with an artificial tree from @wayfair, and friends I am hooked. It looks so real and beautiful - it’s almost impossible to tell it’s not real. This may be a new holiday tradition for us 😉👌.

Speaking of traditions. Today on the blog I’m sharing our family’s holiday traditions - including my very favorite tradition of all. A gift I give to JP and the kids ever year that doesn’t cost a dime and has become our favorite part of Christmas morning. The kids asked me the other day what I wanted for Christmas, and when I responded, “sleep!”, everyone started laughing 😅. Because let’s be honest, that’s never gonna happen 😂🤦‍♀️.

Hands down, the best part of blogging has been making so many real connections and friendships with all of you 💕. Yep, this is our life! Running out the door every morning with a few of us missing shoes (why are shoes always a battle??!!). Thankfully, keeping hats on everyone’s little heads is a little easier thanks to @funkyjunque beanies. My crew loves these cozy warm hats, and I love that they’re all under $20! Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday of the year to host. But this year, my only contribution to thanksgiving dinner will be driving my four little turkeys to Ohio 🦃

As I started packing up for our drive today, I finally found myself getting into the holiday spirit. It took me a little longer this year than normal. My mind has been preoccupied with a lot of other things - that really aren’t my priorities (anyone else relate??). But this mama is finally, now, officially in the holiday spirit.
I’m ready to put my phone away, catch up with my mom over a big glass of wine, and just relax with family and friends. And I hope all of you are feeling the same 💕

Growing up, setting the table for Christmas Eve dinner was one of my favorite traditions. I loved making sure every fork was laid perfectly and folding the napkins just right. Now as a mama, it’s so fun being able to share these same moments with Lillian. She’s become quite the little helper over the years.

These two little stinkers are jumping for joy this morning because they just found out they’re having a sleep over in “mom and dad’s bed” tonight. And even better - with just dad. Boys night 👊. Which means lots of jumping on the bed, probably a cheeseburger or two and movies in bed (because let’s be honest, “dad” is for sure the fun one in this house)

I’m heading into the city with my mom, Lillian and Asher for a little afternoon tea and stay at the @thepeninsulachi hotel. I’m so excited. Tea, swimming in the hotel pool, big fluffy robes and probably a little room service 🤗. I’ve been looking forward to today for weeks. So excited for a “night away” with a few of my favorite people at one of my favorite places @thepeninsulachi ❤️❤️❤️

“I just need to get through these next few weeks, and then things will slow down and I can relax.”....that’s what I said to J last night as I was crawling into bed. And the moment they came out of my mouth, I had a pit in my stomach and already regretted the words I had just spoken.
.
I was wishing the season away. Me. A girl who lives to find grace and joy in every season (especially this one) was wishing it away. I felt like a fraud.
.
But here’s the thing. Last night was a wake up call. A good reminder that I need to make some changes. I don’t want to feel stressed over things that in reality - aren’t worth stressing about!
.
The reality is, it’s not all going to get done this year. I can’t say “yes” to it all. Projects, blog posts, parities, cookie baking, whatever. It can’t all happen. And I’m settling into that new reality. Less is more for me this year.
.
So I’m challenging myself over the next few days before thanksgiving to decide how I want this season to go. Setting an intention to focus on what I truly want. I’m making a “bucket list” of what really matters to me over the next six weeks - and the rest I’m leaving behind this year.
.
And I’m asking all of you to join me. Let’s all agree to take some things off our plates this year. For staters, I think I’m going to order Christmas dinner (which you know kills me), but it’s one things I don’t “have” to do and it takes me away from my kids and watching x-mas movies on the couch (and THAT I will remember, not the mashed potatoes I made). What about you?? What’s one LESS thing you can do this year?

I want to go into this season grateful and mindful and joyful and all those good things - and I want you to, too.
.
This season can be whatever we want it to be - and I’m choosing joy ✨
