Happy Friday, sweet friends! It’s been ages sin Happy Friday, sweet friends!  It’s been ages since I’ve done a Friday favorites and I’ve been missing it!!

I’ve been having so much fun the past few weeks adding in a few new pieces to our home and thought I’d share some of it with you - including that awesome new target vase I used for my flowers the other day, our new bar cabinet and a new piece of art for our bedroom I found on @etsy.  I linked it all in today’s blog post.  Plus a quick kitchen update, how I’m doing with the whole “not drinking” thing and more.  Just a fun recap of the week.

I got up early today, on my 42nd birthday, and wrote a blog post about how I’m feeling these days, what I want, and what I’m working on this year.  I wasn’t planning on writing it, but I guess I had lot say.
.
The post is for me.  A gift to myself.  But for all of you too.  For all the women out there who are wanting more. 
.
It scares the crap out of me putting a lot of this out there so raw - but it scares me even more not to. 
.
Thank you to all of you for being here.  For making all of this possible for me.  For being my people.  For letting me be yours too.  I’m beyond excited for this year - but even more that I get to take all of you along with me.  My heart is bursting with gratitude and happiness and excitement.

I don’t talk about this a lot on here - but blog I don’t talk about this a lot on here - but blogging, while it’s something I genuinely LOVE, it’s not something that comes easy for me.  And at many times, feels like something I’m not very good at.
.
In fact, on Monday, during our crazy blizzard here in Chicago, I found myself sitting on my bedroom floor in tears after receiving an email that a brand deal I had been working on fell through.  As silly as it sounds, it crushed me.  Am I not good enough?
Do I not have enough followers?  Is my content not good enough?  Am I just not good enough.
.
I share this because rejection sucks (sorry for my language - but sometimes no other word will due). Failure sucks.  It just does.  But the reality is - it happens all the flipping time.  So we better find ways to deal with it and work through it - or we might as well stay on our bedroom floor in tears (which was definitely a thought that crossed my mind on Monday 🤷‍♀️).
.
Today’s blog post is for all of those who’ve ever been rejected.  All the “No’s” we all face, every day.  And for the girls who pick themselves up off the floor, wash their face, put some darn lipstick on and get the heck back out there. 
.
Because let’s be honest, nothing good in life ever happened sitting on your bedroom floor crying. #chinupbuttercup

Story of our life these days. The most snow we’ Story of our life these days.  The most snow we’ve ever seen, in the middle of a pandemic, while we’re homeschooling four kids.  Sounds about right😅🤦‍♀️❄️

Sometimes life feels so crazy and upside down, you just have to laugh. 
.
Whatever comes your way today,  friends (blizzards, pandemic, whatever 🤷‍♀️) remember you always have a choice.  How your day goes is up to you.  We set the tone for our day.  And mamas, we set the tone for our homes (especially on days like this). Reset if you need to.  But remember it’s up to each of us to choose what comes next. 
.
Today I’m choosing to embrace what’s right in front me.  Snow storm and all.  Bundling up, getting outside, being silly with my crew and not taking it all so seriously.  The rest can wait till tomorrow 💗.

Yesterday was a not so great day, as I shared with Yesterday was a not so great day, as I shared with so many of you yesterday.  Struggles with parenting, website crashes (Wordpress is my nemesis) and just LIFE got the best of me.  So I had a quick cry, took a hot bath, fed the kids the world’s worst dinner and put myself to bed at 8pm.  And you know what....it was all ok. 

Here’s the thing.  You can do ALL the things.  All the “right” things to make it so you’re patient with your kids, so you’re at your best, so you’re feeling healthy and good and all the things - and STILL have an off day. 
.
Life is NOT linear.  You don’t get x because you did y.  It just doesn’t work that way.
.
Some days are just gonna be off.  And some days are gonna be so flipping amazing.  And a lot of days are gonna be somewhere in the middle. 
.
Our job isn’t to stop any of those from happening, but instead to just go with it.  Ride the waves and not hold on to any of it.  To keep showing up new, day after day.  Good days, bad days, and the in between days. 
.
As I look back since I’ve started my wellness journey - I can’t say that I lose my patience any less or am any “better” of a person.  But I can say that I’m faster at returning. I’m faster at recognizing when things are off or I need a break.  And friends, that’s a WIN. 
.
Celebrating the wins over here today including kids turning in math tests, websites up and running and me not yelling 🙏 #itsthelittlethingsinlife 
.
Also - to all of you who messaged me yesterday about my struggles with the kids.....thank you 💗💗💗. I love how you guys are always so quick to jump in an build a girl up when she needs it.  Sending all that love right back at you ❤️😘

I think for a long time I just thought I was reall I think for a long time I just thought I was really tired.  Like it was “normal” to feel this way.  To feel a little groggy, a little irritable, and a little....just off.  That maybe as a mom of four, this was just part or it.  After all, isn’t this what every mom felt? 
.
I think I got so used to running on fumes, to not taking care of myself and to feeling like “crap” that I thought it was “normal”. I forgot what I felt like to wake up and feel GOOD.  And I mean, like really good.  Happy and AWAKE and excited about the day.  I think now at almost 42 I feel better than I ever have.
.
But the best part is....this is something we can ALL feel.  It just requires us to slow down for a minute and listen to what our bodies are asking for.  And that looks a little different for each of us.
.
For me, I know that I need....
- daily movement 
- breath work
- good wholesome, nourishing food 
- sunshine, and a lot of it 
- hugs and touch and laughter with my kids
- and SLEEP.  Lots and lots of deep sleep
.
So these are now things I prioritize.  Things I make time for and plan for. I don’t just “hope” they fit into the day....I make them a part of my day.  It’s an active choice. 
.
