Anyone else wake up today feeling happier, lighter Anyone else wake up today feeling happier, lighter and more hopeful?! Yesterday was such an incredible day....I woke up today still on a high 💗💗
.
Speaking of waking up....I know lately I’ve been sharing a lot of my morning routine with all of you in stories (mainly my meditations & morning pages), and I’ve been getting a lot of questions (which I love 💗). So I thought I’d write a blog post all about my current morning routine.
.
Having a set morning routine has been one of the best gifts I’ve given myself over the years. Although it’s changed and evolved over time, I love having a set way to start the day. A way to take care of ME, so that I can take care of everyone else.
I truly believe how we start the day, and take care of us, sets the tone for the day.
.
You can find my full blog post linked in my bio.
.
What about you?! Do you have a set morning routine? How do you start your days??

For any of you who guessed “kitchen” yesterday For any of you who guessed “kitchen” yesterday - you are spot on 👊. We’ve been waiting almost 2 years to demo our current kitchen and we couldn’t be more excited - including our kiddos. Everyone’s got lots of opinions over here 🙄 especially our little people (requests for special cookie drawers, and a space to make slime, duly noted 😅)
.
Today on the blog I’m sharing all about our plans for this remodel, our vision and where we’re sourcing our inspiration from - like this gorgeous kitchen from @studiomcgee (anyone else obsessed with their new show on @netflix?).
.
Who out there has done a kitchen remodel? Anything I should know? And any “must haves” that I should include in our design? A coffee station?? Are those a thing??
.
You can find my full blog post linked in my bio. And I’ll share a little walkthrough of our vision in stories (just try not to laugh at me - I’m pretty @hgtv isn’t calling me anytime soon to host a home show 😂🤦‍♀️).

Since JP and I bought this home almost two years a Since JP and I bought this home almost two years ago, we’ve done a lot of projects. But for the most part they’ve been primarily cosmetic - refinishing floors, painting, changing out light fixtures, landscaping. We’ve been waiting on the bigger projects. Until now.
.
The past few weeks JP and I have had some great meetings and are putting plans together for a project we’ve been itching to do. Any guesses?! Don’t worry - you won’t have to wait long. I’ll share all the details on the blog tomorrow.
.
What about you? Any big house projects on your plate for this winter?? If we’re all gonna be “home” for a while, it feels like the perfect time.

Listen....we’ve talked about this before so this Listen....we’ve talked about this before so this isn’t new news. When we eat well. When we get in some movement. A little sun and some deep breaths - we just FEEL GOOD.
.
We don’t need any special program or book or app to give us some secret we already know. We have the knowledge within us to take care of ourselves.
.
Yet sometimes....it can still feel hard. Especially getting started (more on that another day)
.
I get it. I’m right there with you. I came home from California, yes feeling inspired by our trip, but also feeling sluggish and just uncomfortable in my skin.
.
So slowly, I’ve been getting back to feeling like myself - morning walks, making time for stillness, yoga, eating well, going to bed....and guess what....I’m feeling GOOD. Turns out it is that simple.
.
Speaking of eating good to feel good - I’m making this curried lentil & butternut squash soup for dinner tonight. Whenever I’m craving comfort food - but also want something that’s really nutrient dense - I always go for soups or stews, and this is one of my favorites.
.
What about YOU? What are you doing now, today, to feel GOOD?? And if you’re not sure, maybe take a moment right now to think of one way you can be good to you today - we all deserve it.

“We don’t sit in meditation to become good med “We don’t sit in meditation to become good meditators. We sit in meditation so that we’ll become more awake in our lives” - Pema Chrodron
.
And I don’t know if there’s ever been a time where we’ve needed to be more awake than right now - to the struggle, the beauty, the abundance and even the pain. To be awake to it all, and more importantly to be able to sit with it.
.
Last week I asked if any of you were open to starting a meditation, or mindfulness practice, and the response was an overwhelming “YES”.
.
So today on the blog I’m sharing a simple way to get started with your own mediation practice.
.
I am not a meditation teacher, expect or guru by any means. But I do have my own practice that I’m so grateful for, so today on the blog I’m sharing all I know. In hopes that it inspires you to start your own practice.
.
So often I think we shy away from meditation because it can feel overwhelming, or intimidating or that somehow we’ll do it wrong. But friends...let me be first to tell you, there’s no way to do it wrong. And if I could give you any advice - it would be to just start. Today.
.
You can find my full blog post all about how to get started with your own practice linked in my bio.

How about you? Do you have a meditation practice? What advice can you give us, or how has it helped you??

TWELVE. Twelve years ago today this boy made me a TWELVE. Twelve years ago today this boy made me a mama. But no matter how he old gets, he will forever be my burnt pancake. My tester. Trying to figure it all out and get it “just right”. Each and every stage.
.
My biggest lessons learned by parenting him, and I know it’s just the start.
.
A few years ago, on Asher’s 10th birthday, I wrote one of my favorite blog posts to date. “A letter to my son”. Saying all the things I feel like I never get the chance.
.
For any mama out there who feels like the days are flying by, it’s worth a read 💙. I read it again this morning and somehow the words ring even more true.
.
Last night as I was tucking Ash in, I said “I loved getting to know the 11 year old Asher, I can’t wait to meet the 12 year old him tomorrow”. And I really feel that way. I love them so deeply at each age, but I love even more seeing who they BECOME. What’s your favorite phase of motherhood? Or favorite age with your little ones??
.
You can read the full blog post and the letter I wrote to Asher linked in my bio 🎂💙

Lillian just took these photos of Sloan and I duri Lillian just took these photos of Sloan and I during a five minute e-leaning break. They may not be the “prettiest” photos for my feed - but I honestly don’t care. It’s my real life. And I love them. I think this year I’m going to do a little less censoring myself or trying to make things “perfect” for the gram - and just do me.
.
Speaking of not censoring myself. I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t bring up what happened yesterday at our capital. I’m sure I speak for so many of us when I say that I’m appalled and disgusted, but sadly, not surprised. This was what our president has been asking for. We can’t act surprised.
.
I’m disheartened for many reasons about what I witnessed yesterday - BUT today I HAVE A CHOICE. To voice my opinion here. To talk with my kids about what happened so that they too can understand. To continue to stay informed and engaged.
.
Yesterday was just a harsh reminder that we have so much work to do. We are just at the beginning. If we want a different world, we ALL have to start acting differently. Including what we’re comfortable talking about - on here, in our homes, with our kids. Nothing happens when we all remain silent. So I hope you’ll join me. Are you talking about yesterday’s events with your kids? Your family? How are you feeling about everything??
.
As dark as yesterday was - today I woke up hopeful. Especially seeing so many people speaking out. I think deep down we all want the same thing. ❤️. Today I have Hope.
Well hello there, old friends! It’s been a minu Well hello there, old friends! It’s been a minute. So good to be back! I’ve missed all of you!! Happy, happy new year (many days late..but who’s counting 😅🤷‍♀️).
.
I just hit publish on a new blog post that was so fun to write. It was a look back on this year, and everything it’s given me.
.
While a lot of this year was incredibly challenging, there are a lot of things from 2020 that I’m taking with me into the new year. Looking for the good in the simple things. Morning walks. Baking bread. Not taking myself so seriously. Lightening up. Letting things go. And just being HAPPY.
.
Not sure that was the most eloquent IG post - but you know what I mean. What’s one thing from 2020 that you’re grateful for or that you’re taking with you into 2021?! Share with us....
.
And you can find today’s full blog post listed in my bio.
