Hey there, friends. How are you?How’s everyone Hey there, friends. How are you?How’s everyone doing? How are we all holding up? I thought we could all use a little community check-in 💕 . I’ll fill you in on how I’m holding up - but then I want to hear from all of YOU how you’re doing 💕💕 . So here’s how I’m honestly feeling these days.... . I’m sad and overwhelmed.....but also hopeful and at peace in the same breath. I’m going stir crazy one minute.....but then soaking up this slower living with the kids the next. I’m tired and mentally exhausted....but also restless and energized. I’m happy and sad and grateful and a lot of emotions that I can’t quite put my finger on. . I’m a mix of emotions, and I think a lot of us are. And I think it’s all ok. . It’s ALL ok. All of it. . I keep reminding myself that it’s ok to not know how to feel right now, or how to organize our days, or know what to say to the kids, or know what to do about work or homeschooling or even simply what to do next. It’s ok. . This is one time in our life we don’t have to have it all figured out. We aren’t supposed to be “good” at quarantining. There’s a reason it feels hard - because it is. . So for today I’m taking every pressure off myself to do this next month “well” - and just be ok with just being ok. . Now what about all of you? How are you doing? Ok friends, I’m finally back with a “Friday Fa Ok friends, I’m finally back with a “Friday Favorites”. But this week it’s looking a little different. . As hard as the past few weeks have been for many of us (for all different reasons), one of the things I keep coming back to is how much hope and love and good there still is all around us. . Families and friends and communities all coming together to support each other. In ways big and small. . Today’s Friday Favorites is all about taking care of each other. Taking care of our communities. Taking care of our people at home. And last, but not least, taking care of US ❤️ . On the blog I’m sharing a few of my favorite small businesses I’m trying to support (who need our help now more than ever), a few resources that are helping me take care of my little people, and finally how I’m taking care of me. . None of us have any idea what the next few weeks, or months, look like. But what we do know is what’s right in front of us, today. Right here, now. Today I took some time to make our home feel a lit Today I took some time to make our home feel a little more HAPPY 🖤. . I’ve been wanting to give this little guy (or as he says “the littlest big kid”) a makeover on his room for a while. I had ordered some wallpaper a while ago, that I found out probably wasn’t gonna make it to our place anytime soon. So I did the next best thing. I grabbed a can of paint from our basement and painted away. It’s not perfect. But you guys, this big guy’s eyes LIT up when he saw it. Sometimes all we need to make our home feel happy, or special, is right in front of us. Feeling grateful tonight for that can of paint, and this boy’s beautiful smile. . As much as the past few days have been hard or cha As much as the past few days have been hard or challenging - they’ve also been pretty amazing too, in some unexpected ways. Here’s my “good list” for today... . ❤️ cooking with Lillian . ❤️ making play dough with the little boys for the first time. Ever. . ❤️family walk to the beach. . ❤️ listening to Asher and lillian whisper to each other and giggle when they’re supposed to be working. . ❤️ midday talks with JP. . ❤️sunshine. . ❤️being in pajamas at 6pm (instead of running to ballet and LAX practice) . There is always good. Sometimes we just have to look at things differently. . One of the biggest “good things” that has happened this week is that I’ve been in my kitchen, A LOT. Baking and cooking more than I have in a while, and it’s been so grounding and calming. I had almost forgotten how healing cooking can be. . Today the kids asked for this oatmeal bake which is one of our family favorites. Since we have no where to be, sure, why not 🤷‍♀️. Oatmeal bake on a Wednesday - that’s going on the “good list”. . Last night, as I was tucking this little lady into Last night, as I was tucking this little lady into bed, she leaned over to me and quietly whispered, “mom, I’m a little scared about tomorrow”. . I did my best to reassure her, and let her know that I was a little scared too. It can be scary doing new things...even if they are in your own home. But I reminded her that the good news is, she isn’t alone. And that all of her friends were probably lying in their own beds, feeling the exact same way, in that exact same moment. That even when you can’t see it, even when you feel all alone, you are never alone. We are ALL in this together. . And the same goes for us. We are all in this together, doing something we’ve never done before. Figuring out our “new normals”. And it can feel hard and strange and overwhelming at times. But the good news is, we aren’t alone ❤️. How lucky are we?! . Today on the blog I’m sharing how I’m adjusting to our “new normal”. It’s hard to believe that a week ago today I was It’s hard to believe that a week ago today I was still in Palm Springs without a care in the world, and today, just a week later, it couldn’t feel more opposite. . Today was “day one” for our little crew of homeschooling and staying in our own little bubble. . We had a long family meeting with our kids last night about what our “new normal” would look like and of course they had a million questions. Many of which I didn’t have answers to. Because I don’t know.... . But here’s what I do know, and what I said to them... . ✨ it’s ok to feel overwhelmed or scared of anxious or confused. It’s ok. In fact it’s more than ok, it’s natural. It’s isn’t every day your life is put on pause. So let yourself feel whatever you’re feeling. It’s ok.... . ✨and then keep going. Keep doing your school work, I’ll keep blogging, we’ll keep cooking and playing and riding bikes and laughing. So much of what makes our life, “our life”, hasn’t changed. Those things are all still there. Life keeps going on...and so do we. . ✨ keep connecting. Even if we’re “alone”, we don’t need to be alone. Check in on your friends. Pick up the phone. FaceTime a friend. We need each other. Don’t turn in. Someone out there needs to hear from you today. Keep connecting. . ✨ have faith. In the end it will all be ok. It will all work out, it alway does. Our job isn’t to know what the future holds, but to trust the process. . I don’t know what the next month holds for any of us, but I know we’ll all be ok. And in the meantime, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be here blogging away (as much as I can with four kids hanging on me 🤪) taking it one day at a time - focusing on the good things - and I hope you’ll join me. . What about all of you?!
