  • Yesterday, in my stories, I shared how I was feeling pretty overwhelmed managing my schedule and never ending “to-do” list.  Everything from the kids activities, to my personal projects with the blog - just trying to figure out all the moving pieces can sometimes feel like a full-time job.

I think as a “stay-at-home-mom”, most of my “work” happens while I’m multitasking so many other things.  Making dinner while checking emails, editing photos while refereeing two toddlers playing.  It’s always a juggle.  It feels as though my mind can never be truly present in one moment because I’m always juggling so many moving parts - and thinking ahead to “what’s next”. Anyone else relate?!!

I decided it was time to try and make a change.

I’m realizing I need to hold myself more accountable and better plan out my time.  Managing my “time” is just as important as every other “task” I do - and I need to make it a priority.  Dedicating time each day to “plan” how I’m going to use this precious resource of time and being more mindful of where my time is really going.

I’m starting a new system next week using the @pandavist planner - and will let you know how it goes.  Fingers crossed this new system creates less overwhelm and more room for joy!!! _________

  • Yesterday was one of those days.  You know the kind.  I felt behind from the moment I woke up, and it only snowballed from there.  I felt so deflated by the end of the day.  Rattling off in my mind all the things I had done wrong - I was impatient with the kids, never returned any of my voicemails, wet laundry still sitting in the washing machine. And on the list went.

But as I climbed into bed last night, and I took a moment to clear my head - I started thinking about all the things I DID do.  I got four kids off to school and back.  I made healthy meals us all.  I kissed boo-boos, wiped noses, cleaned up dishes, read bed-time stories,
and said “I love you” about a million times.  So I guess maybe I did do a few things ok.

It can be so easy for me to only focus on what’s still not crossed off on my “to-do” list - rather than seeing all that I DID do.  There are so many things in my days, in all of our days, that never even make it onto our lists.  Things that matter.  Real things.  Those are the things that count the most.

So for today, that’s what I’m choosing to focus on.  All that I DID do - including making these spicy falafel pitas!  Probably one of my all time favorite recipes.  Crispy spicy falafels smothered in a homemade tzatziki sauce and crunchy carrot slaw.  The perfect comfort food to enjoy while NOT crossing things off your “to-do” list 😉😂.

  • I can remember back to when J and I were first dating, we’d talk about all the things we wanted to accomplish and do before we turned 40.  We were so young and naive at the time - and 40 seemed like a world away.

Fast forward to today, on J’s 40th birthday, living a life I don't know if either of us ever imagined.

But I can say that without a doubt - through all the moves, careers, and kids - I couldn't be prouder of who this man has grown into.  An even better version of the 20 something boy I knew years ago.

And while I believe “the best is yet to come”, there have already been some pretty magical moments along the way.

I think so, but you tell me 😘
