My morning routine

How does that saying go….”how you do one thing, is how you do everything”?

I love that quote and find that it applies to so many areas of my life from how I respond to the kids, to how I eat, to even something as silly as how I spend my morning.

I find that how I start the first part of my morning, really sets the tone for how the rest of my day goes. If I wake up frazzled and rushed, the rest of my day feels that same way too. But if I set time to get up a little earlier, slow down and focus on my priorities, the rest of my day falls into place a little smoother.  A somewhat seemingly small step, in what trickles down to be a pretty big change.

I almost always start my mornings by getting up before the kids’ wake and right away having a cup of warm lemon water.  There are so many great benefits of starting your day with lemon water, but I find that first and foremost it’s a great way to wake up my digestive system and boost my immune system.

Then I take a little bit of time to get myself ready for the day, organize my thoughts and my schedule, and of course enjoy a delicious cup of COFFEE.

I LOVE coffee. Like really love it.  But I try to be mindful of how much caffeine I drink.  I usually limit myself to only one cup a day.  So I really savor that one cup.

My “coffee time” is one of my favorite parts of my day.  It’s my 10 minutes or so to clear my head, organize my thoughts and plan out my day.  I don’t do anything else.  I don’t make kids’ breakfasts, pack lunches, or do anything other than just take time for myself.

I also use this time to plan out my calendar.  I recently started “time blocking” my days and it has really helped keep me organized and on track.  I set a list of priorities, goals, and then smaller “tasks” for the day.  It’s a great way to get my day organized in a really mindful way.

Up until just recently, I have been enjoying my coffee “black”.  I’ve never really liked the way dairy made me feel, especially in the mornings.  So I avoided any and all creamers, until now.

I just recently discovered Coffee mate natural bliss Plant Based Half & Half and LOVE the way it makes my coffee so creamy and smooth.  It’s completely plant-based, non-dairy, made with real almond milk and coconut cream, and makes my coffee so velvety and rich.  I’ve been using the “unsweetened” flavor (which has no sugar), but I also love the “vanilla” flavor for the days I’m looking for a little extra treat.

You can find Coffee mate® natural bliss® Plant Based Half & Half in the creamer section at your local Walmart.  You’ll love how this plant-based creamer helps kick-up your morning coffee routine, and just maybe even help set the tone for your day too.

But no matter how you start your morning, remembering to slow down and make mindful choices on everything from what we put in our coffee, to how we plan out or day, adds up.   All of these small choices, lead up to really big change that hopefully trickles down to leading a happier, more joy-filled life.
