Holiday cocktail

I don’t like to discriminate when it comes to holiday beverages.  Wine, beer, vodka.  I’m not gonna lie, I kind of love them all.  You see, I’m sort of a “the more the merrier” kind of girl.  So I like to keep them all in a healthy rotation and not play favorites.  But if I had to pick, I’d say the one that’s really pulling at my heartstrings this holiday season is the Moscow Mule.  The copper mug, the ginger beer, the crisp lime….need I say more?

But with the holidays quickly approaching, I wanted to play around with something a little more festive than the traditional mule.

I had been seeing some people share ideas of Moscow Mules with cranberries, and I thought I’d give it the old college try (don’t worry, I was happy to be the taste tester for all of you.  I got your back).

JonPaul and I played around with a few variations, and I’m happy to report back that we are both in love (for sure with the drink….and with each other too) with this twist on an old favorite.  It’s not overly sweet.  Just the right amount of tart cranberry and refreshing ginger.  We added rosemary as a garnish and it added a wonderful earthy aroma, that smells fantastic, looks gorgeous, and tastes absolutely delicious.

This past week I had a cocktail party with some friends who were happy to be my taste testers as well (see how much we all care about you).  Let’s just say our glasses were all empty and everyone had a good time.

Instead of making individual drinks, however, I made one large batch of this recipe in a pitcher with no ice.  I then set out all the garnishes, a bucket of ice, and a bunch of copper mugs.  This way everyone could help themselves without having to stand there and measure out ingredients.

I would definitely recommend this cocktail for any upcoming holiday party.  Not only is it a crowd-pleaser, but it’s kind of a show stopper.  You would be pretty hard-pressed to find a cocktail more festive than this.

Hoping you all find some time this holiday season to relax and enjoy time with those you love most….with or without a Moscow Mule in your hand.

Cheers!
